Dive watches

The classification of a watch into the category of divers’ watches is governed by the ISO 6425  norm which lists very specific conditions. Among those are being waterproof to at least 100 meters depth; the existence of a unidirectional bezel with a 60 minute graduation and clearly identifiable marks for every 5 minutes that are distinctively visible from a distance of 25 cm in darkness; a working indicator; some antimagnetic qualities (using the ISO 764 norm); a chemical resistance to salt water, to thermal shocks...
In the context of everyday language outside the world of deep sea diving, a divers’ watch is a sturdy watch that is waterproof at depths of at least 100 meters, equipped with a unidirectional bezel, good legibility in all conditions, and a strap appropriate for all water activities.
